Compost Pile/Dump

Location: 825 Cannon River Avenue (north of Archie Swenson Softball fields)
Cannon Falls residents are free to deposit allowed items listed below in the appropriate compost piles.
What is allowed in the compost piles?
- Leaves
- Sticks
- Grass clippings
- Branches
- Weeds
- Plants
- Brush
When disposing of leaves and grass, they must be emptied out of any plastic bags or other containers they are hauled in. Biodegradable paper bags are acceptable. Remember to keep leaves, sticks, and grass clippings out of streets and gutters, because clean streets lead to a cleaner community.
What is not allowed in the compost piles?
- Stumps of any kind
- Rock
- Black top
- Plastic bags
- Household Trash
- Recycling
- Tires
- Pots/containers
- Construction lumber
- Bricks/cement/concrete
What material is available to Cannon Falls Residents:
- Compost (may not be screened)
- Wood Chips
Items brought to the compost site must come from within the city limits of Cannon Falls. No items from outside city limits are allowed. No dumping by commercial tree services.
No use of heavy equipment to load trucks or trailers is allowed.
