Temporary Sidewalk and Road Closure in Downtown Cannon Falls Starting Early October

Cannon Falls, Minn. – The Minnesota Department of Transportation announces a series of temporary sidewalk and road closures that was originally  beginning late August/Early September has now been pushed to early October 2024 for road improvements and ADA compliance along Highway 20/4th Street North.  The project will extend from Highway 19 to River Road and is expected to continue through late October 2024.

Crews will begin work on sidewalk improvement, pedestrian ramps for ADA compliance, and street surface improvement.  The project will be executed in phases, with sidewalk improvements first, followed by pedestrian ramp upgrades, and concluding with street resurfacing in late October; if the resurfacing can not be completed due to weather, it will take place in the Spring 2025.

To ensure safety and facilitate the construction, there will be pedestrian detours and road closures during weekdays while work is in progress.

Please be aware that all construction activities and traffic impacts are weather dependent and may be subject to change.

If you have any questions about the project, please contact Jennie Hinz at 612-272-7082 or jennie.hinz@state.mn.us.
